Indie Bands You Should Know: The Kooks
The Kooks are an Indie rock band from East Sussex, England, formed in 2001. The band has 4 members: Luke Pritchard (lead vocals, guitar), Hugh Harris (lead guitar), Peter Denton (bass guitar), and Paul Garred (drums). The Kooks are one of my favorite Indie bands; their music is a cross between 60s classic rock and modern day indie pop. Their albums are consistent all the way through, and after listening, their songs are gonna be stuck in your head for days. They have 3 albums out: Inside In/Inside Out (2006), Konk (2008), and Junk Of The Heart (2011). Junk Of The Heart was just released on September 13th and I highly recommend buying the album, 1 because its excellent, and 2 because you need to support good music.
Listen to my favorites by them:

Lloyd Featuring Lil Wayne and Andre 3000- Dedication To My Ex (Miss That) Official Video
This is the official video for R&B singer Lloyd’s “Dedication To My Ex” featuring Lil Wayne and Andre 3000. Neither rapper seems to actually be in the video; Weezy is played by actor Wayne Brady and Andre is played by a cat. Lloyd seems to be taking a lot of influence from Cee Lo on this one….

Estelle- “Thank You”
British R&B singer Estelle brings us the followup track to her recent single “Break My Heart”. “Thank You” was written by Akon and produced by Jerry Wonda.
“She fell in love with the emotional track the moment she heard it. “By the time it got to the chorus I was damn near crying,” the British songbird told Rap-Up TV…”
Look for this song on her 3rd album “All Of Me” slated for a September release date.

J. Cole – Mr. Nice Watch (Feat. Jay-Z)

Cole promised us that we would get his Jay-Z feature today and he delivered. This track was definitely one of the most anticipated tracks off of Cole World: The Sideline Story. Production on “Mr. Nice Watch” is done by J. Cole himself. For now, we only have the clean version via Skee.
EDIT: Updated With Explicit Version
WubWubWub Wednesday’s – Week 6
You guys better be ready for this week’s pack, because I have selected some seriously crazy songs for those of you who are experiencing withdrawal from 140 bpm music! First up is “One Touch Away” by Spencer & Hill – I seriously enjoyed this song, I definitely need to give more attention to these guys. Then we have Deadmau5′s “Raise Your Weapon” remixed by Sluggo and Nerd Rage – at times, this track sounded a little too disjointed and un-layered, but I can kind of see the feel he’s going for. Then we have Subvibes spin on Starry Eyed which is definitely a notable track within this package. Others that particularly stood out to me was “Muscle Rollers” and “Where’s my Caspa”. The latter is a dubstep that not many are very acquainted with, so take the time to check these all out!
What is Dubstep? Audio Thunder.
Blink-182 “Snake Charmer”
![Neighborhoods [Deluxe Edition]](http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/71llyIhoMwL._SL500_AA300_.jpg)
Blink-182′s new album “Neighborhoods” sprung a leak this morning. To be quite honest, I didn’t think Blink would be able to put out another good album, but I was completely wrong. The beginning half of the album is amazing and I really enjoyed listening to this album, but near the end the album seemed to drag on. Since it was my first listen maybe I will start to like the last couple of songs in the future, but for now I can definitely say Blink-182 were successful with making new good music. Production on this album was also good and Tom delivered since he there was a lot of Tom in the album. ”Snake Charmer” was one of my favorite songs after the first listen. It’s one of the songs that they were working on during the recording of “Self Entitled”, but never got to finish until now. First 6 songs on the album notably flow nicely together. After more listens, I can see myself enjoying this more, but for what it’s worth Blink already surprised me. Make sure to pick up Blink-182′s upcoming album in stores or on iTunes on September 27th.
Demi Lovato feat. Missy Elliott & Timbaland – All Night Long
Demi Lovato recruits Missy Elliot & Timbaland on her new song. This track will be hitting the radio soon.
Turn It Down – Kaskade (OUT NOW!)

When the YGM crew and I went to Identity Fest, we were fortunate enough to hear Kaskade drop this big house beat. The vocals come from Rebecca and Fiona. They not only reign Stockholm’s club scene, but they have become icons for a whole generation of Swedes and represent what hard work combined with talent can do. The song is going to be released on Kaskade’s 8th artist album. Be sure to buy it on iTunes and support the crap out of him. We love Kaskade, and not only because we ran onstage during his set (watch that here –> #onstageswag)
EDIT: Kaskade has officially released the extended mix for Turn It Down featuring Rebecca & Fiona. You can download and stream the song below or buy it exclusively on Beatport.
