Indie Bands You Should Know: The Airborne Toxic Event

The Airborne Toxic Event is an incredibly talented indie rock band from Los Angeles, California, consisting of Anna Bulbrook (viola, keyboard), Daren Taylor (drums), Noah Harmon (bass), Steven Chen (guitar), and Mike Jollett (main vocals, guitar). The Airborne Toxic Event began in 2006 when Mike Jollett began writing songs following one intensely traumatic week in his life: his relationship with his girlfriend ended, his mother was diagnosed with cancer, and Jollett himself was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease. Their sound is very similar to the Cure, but a little more hard rock. The Airborne Toxic Event has released 2 albums to date: a self-titled album in 2008, and All At Once in April of 2011. You may have heard their rather popular song “Sometime Around Midnight” off of their 2008 release (listen to it below).

Chiddy Bang released an unofficial video to their first single off the new album “Breakfast”. It’s pretty entertaining, I’ve gotta admit.

How to Make It in America Mixtape Vol 2

This tape doesn’t include any new songs, but it’s a great mix of rap, indie, and it even includes Avicii’s popular hit “Levels”.  The HTMIIA Mixtape Volume 2 features M83 (who doesn’t love “Midnight City”), Theophilus London, Meek Mill, Future Islands, Little Dragon, Summer Camp and many more artists.  Kid Cudi delivers the intro, talking about New York.  I loved the first season of “How To Make it in America”.  Now that “Entourage” has ended, I can see this show getting popular very fast.  The cast includes Greenburg, Guzman, Rasuk, and even Scott Mescudi (Kid Cudi). You can read up more on the show after the jump. If you don’t have at least half of these songs, I recommend downloading this tape.

New Season premiers October 2nd at 10:30 pm.

Frank Ocean finally did an interview. I can’t recall the last time I’ve seen Frank Ocean and interview in the same sentence. Angie Martinez from Hot 97 interviewed Frank this afternoon. Ocean talks about Jay-Z, Tyler, The Creator, not being recognized in public and a few other things.

B.o.B – ‘Welcome To The Jungle’ (Remix)

This just hyped me up for B.o.B’s sophomore album that’s coming soon. He even says “strange clouds dropping soon…” That single better drop soon. Bobby Ray hopped on the ‘Welcome To The Jungle’ instrumental and dropped a dope remix. Give it a listen and a download.

Timbaland – ‘Pass At Me’ (Feat. Pitbull) (Music Video)

Women, women, and more women. That’s what this music video is about. Pitbull and Timbaland teamed up on this track and here’s the official music video. David Guetta and his beats make a special appearance in this music video. Advertising at its finest.
