2012 Grammy Nominations

The nominees for the 54th Annual Grammy Awards were announced yesterday and Kanye West has a total of 8 nominations including Song Of The Year for ‘All Of The Lights’.  Although he was snubbed from the Album Of The Year category for MBDTF, he still stays winning with the most nominees.  Bon Iver got nominated for Best New Artist and got nominees for Record Of The Year and Song Of The Year for ‘Holocene’.  This is big for the Indie band and they also got nominated for Best Alt. Album Of The Year for Bon Iver (one of my favorite albums of the year).

Now, before we go any further, let’s first remember this is Grammys and the rules make little sense: 1.) The cut off date for an eligible song/record/album was September 30th, 2011, so Drake’s Take Care won’t receive consideration until next year. However, Kanye West’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, which was released in November 2010, was eligible. 2.) To be eligible for Best New Artist, an artist must have released, as a featured performing artist, at least one album but not more than three (which explains why Bon Iver is nominated on album number two.) 3.) The difference between Record and Song of the Year: Record of the Year is given to the artist who performs the song and the people who produce the track, while Song of the Year is awarded to the songwriter who wrote said song. – CoS

One of the nominees that I am most excited is Skrillex.  He is up for 5 nods including Best New Artist.  This is huge for EDM and just proves how Skrillex is one of the best new DJ’s out there.  If you want to check out the rest of the nominations for the categories I thought you may be interested in, hit the jump.  You can also go to Grammy to check the full list.
