Artist You Should Know: Kap Slap

Jared Lucas aka Kap Slap is a young DJ/producer who may be making a surprise appearance at my towns graduation event (shhh it’s frolic). He is currently a student at Lehigh University and began DJing as a hobby. With hard work and talent Kap Slap’s hobby led to a nation-wide tour. While balancing school and DJing professionally, Kap Slap still manages to release free bootlegs.

The stage name Kap Slap refers to his family line shot in the Kappa Alpha society; immediately after the recipient
begins funneling a beer a shot of Bacardi 151 rum is added, giving them a “slap” in the face.

This name doesn’t come as a surprise considering how Lehigh’s party life revolves around Fraternities. Kap Slap won’t be selling any pinnies at this private event frolic, so if you want to show this guy some love make sure to buy that sick party pack he has up on his site here.  Okay, now back to this write-up on Kap Slap…

Kap Slap's newly released music video for his bootleg 'Spaceman I Used To Know'

Although Kap Slap only has mash-ups under his belt, it has allowed him to build a solid college-fan base, that is still exponentially growing. With original EDM tracks coming out this summer, Kap Slap may just be a house hold name in the future. I realize that there are many talented young DJs throughout the world, but Kap Slap is different in that he is still going through college and is able to constantly make bootlegs that appeal to the younger generation. He is just following one of his passions while sticking with school.  There are many college DJs, but I just feel like Kap Slap stands out with his sick live shows/killer sets, and great bootlegs (that kids like me can drop in their high school party sets, making other kids think I’m a good DJ or something meanwhile I’ve only been at it for a couple days hah). His influences (taken right off of facebook are) Zedd, Alesso, Porter Robinson, Afrojack, Hardwell, Swedish House Mafia, Skrillex, Steve Aoki, Pretty Lights, The Glitch Mob, Feed Me, Chrizz Luvly, Lazy Rich, and Avicii. Looking forward to his first original production and this private performance this weeekend.  Below I included my favorite mash-ups and videos by Kap Slap.  Enoy and congratulations to all the graduates!
