Cold War Kids — “Miracle Mile”

The band that I stumbled upon in 2009 from the iTunes free download of the week is back with a new offering entitled “Miracle Mile.” The indie rock band does not disappoint on their refreshing new single.

A welcoming piano intro with backing drums open up Cold War Kids latest single. Lead singer Nathan Willet comes in soon after adding to the feel good vibe of the track with his high energy vocals. I’ll definitely have this song on repeat during the weekend. “Miracle Mile” will reside on Cold War Kids forthcoming album, Dear Miss Lonely Hearts, due out April 2nd.

The Airborne Toxic Event – “Timeless”

The Airborne Toxic Event revealed on their website yesterday that they would be releasing their third studio album, entitled Such Hot Blood, later this spring. They also debuted their first single, “Timeless,” on Sirius AltNation, and now it is up for streaming on the Billboard website. As with all of their songs, “Timeless” contains intensely personal lyrics about love, life, and death written from lead singer Mikel Jollett’s life experiences. This song in particular deals with him finding his grandmother’s body in her room, and how sometimes life surprises him. However, he managed to turn his sadness into an anthemic charged single about love conquering all of the twists and turns life can throw at him.

Indie Bands You Should Know: Kevin Devine

Technically, Kevin Devine is not an indie band so much as a singer-songwriter. You’re all gonna have to forgive me though, seeing as the segment is called “Indie Bands You Should Know.” I first heard of Kevin Devine as a member of Bad Books, an indie supergroup that he is a member of along with…

Carousel — “Stay Awake”

Indie-pop band, Carousel, released a new single today titled “Stay Away.”  The uplifting beat and relaxed vocals make up for a solid listen.  I spotted the song over on P&P and as a result I am about to check out the rest of their work.  This track definitely made me feel good on this Thursday…

Music Video: M83 “Wait”

The final episode, “Wait”, to the visual collaboration between M83 and Fleur & Manu trilogy dropped today.  “Wait” was the fifth track off M83’s latest album, Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming.  Read what Anthony from M83 had to say about the most recent trilogy below. “I love composing music and making music with pictures in my head, it’s…

Foy Vance – “Like An Animal” (RTTV Sessions Video)

You wanna know one of the best things about following musicians on Facebook and Twitter? They are almost undoubtedly fans of some good indie music, and every once in a while you get a great tune thrown your way. British singer/songwriter Benjamin Francis Leftwich shared this video of Foy Vance playing his song “Like An…

The Mowgli’s – “San Francisco”

We’re back with yet another indie-tune. The Mowgli’s is a collection of friends from Los Angeles who simply love making music, and they’re pretty great at it too. “San Francisco” is reminiscent of indie-sensation singles “Little Talks” by Of Monsters And Men and “Home” by Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes. It has that same…

Big Boi ft. A$AP Rocky & Phantogram- “Lines”

First I heard Rocky’s opening verse and thought “This is awesome”…. and then I heard indie duo Phantogram come in on the chorus and thought  “This is absolutely amazing”. Being a fan of both indie music and hip-hop makes this song one of coolest things I’ve ever heard. Big Boi’s Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors…
