Man Overboard- “Where I Left You” Music Video

“Where I Left You” is Man Overboard’s second single from their upcoming album, this time coming with a music video. This single is definitely stronger than the first single (“White Lies”) for the album. It’s hard to deny hearing the Blink influences in the beginning, but that applies to pretty much every pop-punk song.  Definitely a great release by the band and this should make Man Overboard fans even more excited for Heart Attack on May 28th. Look out for The Story So Far’s cameo at the end of the video.

MGMT — “Alien Days”

mgmt alien days

MGMT unleashes their new single entitled “Alien Days.” The psychedelic track takes on a unique sound with a child’s voice opening up the ballad. The lead singer then comes in over an acoustic guitar, a drum beat, and some synth play later in “Alien Days.” The mellow offering from MGMT may be a new direction for the band, but the track still keeps me interested in MGMT’s forthcoming album. I’m about to go back and listen to Congratulations after hearing “Alien Days.” Stream MGMT’s new single below.

Daft Punk – Get Lucky (David A Remix)

daft punk artwork, cover

Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” is an instant classic, with every single sound perfected to the tiniest detail. To remix any of Daft Punk’s songs is a challenge because they are so damn good, but David A. pulls out a mission impossible here. He turns the already funky track into a trap and dub mix which sounds fantastic. Stream and download below!

Childish Gambino – “Think of Me”

childish think of me

So here I am doing homework and drinking orange juice when this pops up on my Facebook news feed. It’s been a long time since we heard from Donald Glover (unless, like me, you’re an avid Community watcher). “Think of Me” is going to appear on the upcoming Funkmaster Flex mixtape. Gambino does his usual thing, spitting some real-lyrics integrated with great punchlines over a beat produced by Chemist. Hopefully this means he has more time to spend in the studio and maybe we’ll start seeing some more new material from him soon.

Chris Webby — “Conan”

chris webby conan

As I was driving earlier I heard Funkmaster Flex start dropping bombs on Hot 97 and got all excited to hear a new premiere from his upcoming mixtape. Flex started to hype up this new rapper that is reppin’ CT and selling out venues at the moment. I thought to myself that the only rapper I know off the top of my head is Chris Webby, but could Flex really be dropping a new Webby song right now. And Chris Webby it was. Chris Webby’s gritty vocals dropped over Flex’s loud bombs and the Buda Da Future beat. It was awesome hearing a rapper that I’ve followed for years on the radio let alone Hot 97. First Logic signs to Def Jam, now Flex drops bombs over a new Chris Webby record. Chris Webby is about to gain a ton of exposure. Stream Chris Webby’s new track, “Conan” below.

Music Video: Macklemore & Ryan Lewis “Can’t Hold Us”

macklemore

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Take On Atlanta

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis dropped the official visual to their collaboration with Ryan Lewis, “Can’t Hold Us.” Macklemore & Ryan Lewis lean away from the norm in their 7 minute music video by making the release into a cinematic experience rather than a quick visual. The boys spent three months shooting the new music video to “Can’t Hold Us” and it shows. The video takes you on a journey to a wide array of places including snow covered mountains, a Macklemore concert, a beach, a city, the sea, a forest and of course a random field of green grass. And if that isn’t enough for you, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis also recruited some Latino dressed trumpet players for the instrumentals. Macklemore added a new autotuned verse towards the end of the video as well.

Daft Punk ft. Pharrell & Nile Rodgers — “Get Lucky”

daft punk artwork, cover

Daft Punk’s new single, “Get Lucky,” is finally here and it features vocals from Pharrell Williams and guitar work from Nile Rodgers. For now all we have is the radio edit, but we will update you when the extended album version drops. Daft Punk’s new single, “Get Lucky,” is everything I imagined plus more. The smooth vocals from Pharrell over mellow guitar chords by Nile Rodgers make this one a classic. Let’s not forget the classic Daft Punk production that features a funky electronic “Get Lucky” sample during breaks and a simple drum beat with some synth play. Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” will be featured on the popular duo’s forthcoming and highly anticipated album, Random Access Memories, due out May 21.
