Gotye- “Somebody That I Used To Know” (Feat. Kimbra)

Okay, this song’s old, I know. Its actually older than the site is… BUT this song had to be posted. I heard this on Alt-Nation the other day, downloaded it right when I got home, and had it on repeat ever since. There’s something so haunting about this song, maybe its the deep bass line, the unorthodox selection of instruments, or De Backer’s breathy whisper style of singing. The song also features female vocals from Australian singer Kimbra, which actually fits the context of the song; its a break up song. And the best break up song I’ve ever heard at that.

For any fan of indie music, you must listen to this song. There’s something so unique about it, and its so damn catchy. This is song is my Christmas gift to all of you.

The Black Keys & Arctic Monkeys 2012 North American Tour

The Black Keys have been getting tons of buzz lately, with the release of El Camino coming out December 6th and the numerous Grammy nominations they received for Brothers this week.  To raise the buzz even more, they announced a tour this week with the massively popular Arctic Monkeys, who many regard as one of the best indie rock bands of the past decade. Their 2006 album Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not is one of my favorite albums, and they just released Suck It And See in June 2011. This tour is a big deal for modern rock fans, and I know for a fact I’ll be there. Check out the tour dates after the jump.

M83- “Midnight City” Official Music Video

If you know this site, you know that we pretty much never post anything over a week old, but I’m making this song the first exception (its only 2 weeks old anyway) . My friend Jason just showed this to me, and it definitely deserves a post. M83 is a band by French musician Anthony Gonzalez, started in 2001. Their sound is an Indie-Electronic blend, very similar to Crystal Castles and Neon Indian. The underlying synth riff in this song is a catchy as hell, and the saxophone gives it really unique sound.

Band Of Skulls- “The Devil Takes Care Of His Own” Official Music Video

Band Of Skulls is an English rock band consisting of Russell Marsden, Emma Richardson, & Matt Hayward. They were formed in 2004, and recorded numerous demos under the name Fleeing New York; they changed their name to Band Of Skulls in November of 2008. Band of Skulls has released 2 albums: Baby Darling Doll Face Honey and Friends EP. The Devil Takes Care of His Own is the first single for the next Band Of Skulls album, set for release in early 2012.

“The track itself is more of the stripped-to-the-core, vaguely dark blues rock that first brought the band to the Big Show. It’s the booming, anthemic chorus, though, that brings it home. It’s that very same chorus that makes this the perfect soundtrack for an old-school kung fu battle, which just so happens to break out as the band does their thing.” {consequenceofsound}
