Kendrick Lamar Takes Over NYC

As I was in the train heading towards the Kendrick Lamar concert tonight, I questioned if the $72 I paid for the ticket was worth it. Kendrick had a performance at Lettermen before his first Roseland Ballroom show. The TDE rapper had a busy night planned on February 26th, but he did not disappoint. He stormed the stage with a ton of energy.

The Compton native began the concert after a 30 minute delay with his Jeezy collaboration, “Westside, Right On Time,” and then transitioned into his Section .80 classic, “Hol Up.” K. Dot started off with mostly mixtape tracks and then performed some album tracks towards the end of the night. Top Dawg Entertainment took over Roseland Ballroom. Ab-Soul came out to perform “Terrorist Threats,” Jay Rock was around to spit his verse in “Money Trees”, and lastly Schoolboy Q performed his hit single “Hands On The Wheel.” Q even went on to say that he is tired of performing that track and is ready to show off his new music. Kendrick held his own on stage. He flowed naturally from one song to the next giving the crowd the ultimate concert experience. It also didn’t hurt that he added a light show that included lasers and a great stage production. Overall Kendrick’s performance surpassed my expectations. His delivery, stage presence and discography is unrivaled by any other freshman in the game right now. As Peter Rosenberg said before Kendrick’s set, “He is the greatest young artist doing this hip hop thing right now.” No doubt about that. Watch footage from the early Roseland Ballroom show and Kendrick’s performance on Letterman after the jump. Also check out his debut album, good kid, m.A.A.d city, if you have been sleeping.

Deadmau5 takes on Roseland Ballroom October 4th

Joel showcasing his new helmet and his first gold record (rollingstone)

Right off the bat, I’d like to apologize for being so busy these last couple of days. I’ll admit, I haven’t even been checking the site, let alone updating it.  So I decided that today I should try to come through with a nice post about none other than the Canadian DJ, Joel Zimmerman. Pardon my french but who is this guy that he’s able to perform six straight nights in the hottest, most congested venue in NYC? He’s either the most passionate DJ ever, or just an incredibly smart business man. I mean, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday!?  He booked and sold out these six straight shows at the same crappy venue that he played at last year – Roseland Ballroom. The fact that tickets are being flipped for over twice the face value (even with six shows lined up) attests to his crazy popularity in NYC. Last night, Deadmau5 started his six show run with a set that may look like one of the better ones of 2011.   He went through popular tracks like “Raise Your Weapons”  Noisa Remix, “I Remember”, “Moar Ghosts N’ Stuff”, “Ghosts N’ Stuff”, “FML”, my personal favorite “Strobe”, and even the new track “Professional Griefers“.  He went through many other songs and what really added to his performance was the amazing stage set up (just basing it off of the videos).  The Light show looked crazy as usual, but whats new? Deadmau5′s concerts have always delivered mind blowing visual effects.  I could go on forever about this show and Joel, but since I may actually end up going to one of the concerts this weekend, I will return with a possible review soon.  Click “Read Morefor some great footage from this concert and to download some of our favorite Deadmau5 tracks.

2 YGM Members, including myself, were lucky enough to score tickets for Radiohead’s concert at Roseland Ballroom last night. Radiohead is about to TAKE OVER NYC…I know I made a post today about Avicii Taking Over NYC with his upcoming concert, but at the time I had no idea my favorite band was going to be performing for two intimate nights at the Roseland Ballroom.  The Roseland Ballroom holds up to 3500 people, making this the closest you may ever be to Radiohead.  On Septermber 26th, Radiohead will first appear for an hour long special on The Colbert Report.  According to ABC News, Radiohead will perform 4 songs, including the unreleased track “The Daily Mail”.

So not only are Radiohead performing the 26th on The Colber Report, they are also performing at Roseland Ballroom in NYC September 28th and 29th!!!!!

According to an issued press release, tickets will go on sale at 10:00 a.m. ET on September 26th via Ticketmaster. There is a two ticket limit per household. All tickets will be available for pick up at will call the evening of the event beginning at 6:30 p.m. and entry into the venue is required immediately upon receipt. No tickets shall be distributed prior to the event.

This is a great way for you to get your tickets without having to pay a crazy resale value by scalpers.  Make sure to get your tickets fast on the 26th, I know I will be.

UPDATE: Tickets will be available the for both dates on the 26th on Ticketmaster right over here.

After the jump, I have included the video of Radiohead’s full concert at Glastonbury.  This footage is amazing and if you are as big as a Radiohead fan as I am, you will not regret watching this.

Invisible (Kaskade Remix)- Skylar Grey

By now, you should know my love for Skylar Grey and her single “Invisible” is great, so I couldn’t be happier when I saw that one of my favorite DJ’s, Kaskade decided to remix it.  He did a great job! Above is a picture of Kaskade live @ the Identity Festival, we have footage for you here.  Kaskade is also going to Roseland Ballroom for 2 days in October in NYC.  If you want to see him, get your tickets before they’re gone on Ticketmaster.
