Coldplay – ‘Princess Of China’ (Feat. Rihanna)

Not too long ago, Coldplay announced that Rihanna will be on their upcoming album. Mylo Xyloto and we finally got the track. Make sure you get this album on the 24th, you can pre-order it on iTunes now.  Back in September, Chris Martin (the lead singer in Coldplay) talked about Rihanna on ‘Princess Of China’ saying

“Well, her bit on our record is my favorite bit … when the song came out, it sort of asked for her to be on it. And I think at this point, we have nothing to lose, and so we’ve been trying some new things and trying to break down the perceived boundaries between different types of music.” MTV

Tell us what you think about this track in the comments.  After a couple of listens, I am surprised to say Rihanna’s voice fits nicely over the beat and her verse was written well.  I’m sure this will do great on the radio.

I wasn’t sure about a Coldplay/Rihanna collabo and I couldn’t help but feel like Chris’s close friendship with Jay-Z influenced it, but upon hearing the track and listening several times… I gotta admit, it’s kinda perfect with her vocals. The heavy instrumental hides the auto-tune they obviously had to do to create Rihanna’s siren sound, but I can dig it. Totally radio-ready.
