Mixtape: Lil Wayne “Dedication 4”

#MixtapeMondays Two massive new mixtapes released today (peep Talib’s new one here), I can’t complain. Skateboard Weezy dropped his highly anticipated new mixtape, Dedication 4.  I’ve heard mixed reviews on this one, but then again every track/project Wayne has dropped recently has gotten mixed reviews.  After skimming through the mixtape, I can’t say that it is all recycle bin worthy, it has its standouts and its skippers.  That “Mercy” beat should not have been touched, the remake is definitely hitting the trash.  A ton of corny lines, but I did expect that going into the tape.  And what is Lil Mouse doing touching that mic.  I don’t know what Lil Wayne was thinking when recruiting the youtube phenomenon on “Get Smoked.”  J. Cole spits a nice verse on “Green Ranger” that takes up most of the track, making it something that is a keeper.  Beat wasn’t too great though. I can bump Wayne’s remix to “I Don’t Like” since I feel like that beat suits him.  Same with “Same Damn Tune.”  Overall the tape is still nothing special.  I have to say Talib Kweli just dropped one of the best mixtapes of the year earlier today, so I can’t really compare the two.  Download/stream the project below.
